Week 6#

 

Week 6

During last week in class we did alot of assignment work. I was very ill on wednesday so I missed out my digital graphics class. I have emailed my lecturer for that lesson to send me details and work from the class that I missed.

 

Alot of work was done during the IT communications and support classes I had, most of it was reviewing over our assignment work. I have realised I need to proof read atleast twice over my work also go alot more thouroughly through it aswell. This will improve my grammar and make my work look more professional and better to read.

 

In my computer hardware class we went over operating systems again. We went over what we learned from the week before such as, File Allocation Table(s), (FAT32, FAT64 etc), and talked about how the operating system takes over from the BIOS during the computer's startup. Peripherals were also mentioned again during the lesson. All of these learning tasks will help us vastly with the assignment.

 

During the software design lesson we went over our assignments like in the other lessons and had a very breif one to one about our assignment with the unit lecturer.



Week #5

During last week I filled out a form which consisted of motivation, targets, attendance, punctuality, homework and meeting deadlines etc. We had to score ourselves on a scale of 1 - 10, 10 being brilliant and 1 being bad. A lot of my scores were over 8 and none of them were below 7, I also set myself a target which was; concentrate more in class and get more sleep.

Sometimes my concentration in class can be side tracked and I lose my focus, I need to get more sleep because some days I come into college extremely tired and this affect my motivation and quality of work.

In my programming unit we made a calculator using C# programming. It required alot of coding work.

Week #2

 

Last week of my course me and my peers learnt in class how use photoshop and edit images within that program. We learned how to use certain tools, such as; crop; red eye removal; plaster tool in groups. We also described the limitations with other programs by re-creating book covers in certain image manipulation software.


I also applied for a job in GAME, bluewater. There was roughly 20 people there and we were put into 3 equally sized groups and instructed to 'sell a game' to the employers and other employees. I found this rather easy but my speaking skills were a definite weak point, I had the knowledge but sometimes I could say it in a way that would 'sell a game'. I felt I was a good team player, I contributed with useful data and helped out other applicants.

I will add, 'Improve speaking skills' to my targets to help me speak more confidently and better in an interview.

Week #3

Last week, me and my class mates covered a number of topics in class.

We started learning how to write code in Fran’s class, we used C# in Microsoft visual studio to create a simple calculator. During Sheila’s lessons we wrote up a presentation for technicians about fault logs etc. In Lucy’s class we learned to use 3 tools in Photoshop, the anti-blemish tool, the plaster tool and red eye removal tool. In Terrence’s lesson we talked about peripherals such as printers and external hard drives.
